Review on πŸ”§ M12 x 1.50 Metric Drain Plug Repair Kit by TIME-SERT by Adolfo Goins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

No power tools required, 30 minute installation.

My wife's BMW is an old classic convertible that I've never touched. For the past 15 years it has been supplied to Euro Car Service in Seattle. It has not been ridden for the last 5 years but several times a year so we have decided to sell it. I think I should change the oil before we sell it. Support it, replace the pan and start unscrewing the oil plug. EVERY TURN was difficult as the first turn was loose. Bad sign. The metal filings come out when I loosen it. The "professional" son ab#*ch who last changed the oil used a pneumatic tool to tighten the plug, which is guaranteed. Never use pneumatic tools on aluminum drip trays! I can't prove it, but the cross carving says so. I really didn't want to spend $100 on this kit, but if you call all of Seattle, all the conscientious, holy mechanics concerned about your well-being will refuse to install the timer. Why? Because they want to charge you $1,000 to put in a new oil pan. thieves, right. Timesert is a solid solution and they know it. They might think they'd like to make $100 for half an hour's work, but I don't think so. Too many stupid people pay $500 for brake repairs. It is packaged very nicely and the tools are excellent. Instructions and procedures are basic. I used a short socket and a long socket for the job and it all worked perfectly - cutting aluminum is never difficult. Be sure to use some lube to catch the sawdust and watch a few YouTube videos to make sure the process goes smoothly. When I installed the plug and new nylon gasket everything was like new with no leaks. Save $900 and buy a kit.

Pros
  • Nice package
Cons
  • Not automatic
