Review on Smad Propane Refrigerator: 3 Way Fridge for RV & Outdoor Camper – Gas/110V/12V, 1.4 Cu.ft, Black by Robert Dickinson

The XC40 is half delivered.

I bought the model XC40 about four months ago and the main point would be that this model of fridge comes semi assembled. Perhaps this is to keep costs down and allow it to sell as a triple circuit fridge for less than other brands. I can only say good things about the 120V AC operation. You turn it on at night and the next morning it's pretty cold. When the door is opened, the blue light also comes on. Pretty cool. If you want to connect it to 12V DC, you should install the car adapter that comes with the refrigerator. Please note that on 12V DC the interior light will not work and will not cool sufficiently to ONLY be used as a 12V DC fridge. However, it can remain cold while driving. With propane, things get a little more complicated. Firstly, when you buy this model, it does not come with a gas regulator and gas tank hose. So you need to buy the hose yourself. They suggest you buy one from his brand that fits properly in the fridge. However, this is not a fixed regulator, so you need to be very precise to get the right pressure to ignite the gas. Once you've done that, I suggest taping off the regulator so it can't move and therefore the pressure stays the same. Next thing to do is the detonator. If you must trust the ignition system, take your time. It may take up to 5 minutes before you ignite the gas for the first time. However, if you turn the flame off and then back on while you're working, it will ignite on the first try. I suspect it has something to do with the cooling system already being warm. When the gas is on, the system works pretty well. It cools down about the same as when plugged into 120VAC. So why do I think it comes halfway? Well, when you're driving and stopping, you want to turn on the gas, but first you need to turn off the 12vdc power supply. If you want to connect it to 120V AC, you have to do the same again. As such, there's no three-position switch that lets you choose how much power you want to use by simply toggling. So I added a 3 position switch to my fridge control panel to fill this need. In addition, in gas operation, the refrigerator blows out the flames very easily when it comes into contact with the wind. Yes, and very often. This is done simply by closing or opening the van's door. Imagine it's windy outside. Don't even think about turning it on. So you can't rely on petrol. To solve this problem I built it myself and developed an electronic system that detects when the flame goes out and lights it up again automatically. That way I don't care how many times it stops because the next second it'll start up again. It took me about 4 days of work to fix this problem. Now I can say that the fridge works perfectly in all situations as sold in advertisements.
