Overall, this is a good stand for my 9.7" iPad. My stand didn't come with an instruction manual - just a couple of diagrams printed on the outside of the box. An extra screw was included to secure the plastic bracket to the rotating metal bracket (2 total), as well as a small hex-head screwdriver and a smaller hex wrench to remove (I think) the rotating metal bracket or adjust the tension of the ball joint. The important point about assembly is that the back of the plastic tablet holder is slightly curved and the rotating metal bracket on the metal base is shaped to match this curve. You must align them when assembling the stand, otherwise the curves will not align and create unnecessary instability when you press the tablet screen. In my first photo you can see the gap at the top and bottom of the junction of plastic and metal fasteners when assembled incorrectly. My stand has about a dozen cosmetic imperfections, such as deformed rubber and plastic parts and small dents in the metal. Not a big deal, but for the price I would have liked better. My second photo shows one of the many areas where the plastic/rubber molding and interface are defective. One side of the plastic bracket is fixed and the other side moves in and out to accommodate different sized tablets. It's spring loaded and holds my iPad with the Otterbox case quite securely. Since only one side moves, unless the tablet is approximately 8-1/2 inches wide, the tablet will not be centered on the stand when used in portrait mode. My 9.7" iPad is off-center about 1" to the right in this vertical mode. Not a big deal, but it does add a bit of instability when I click on the right side of the screen. The base of the metal stand measures 5-1/2 inches at its widest point. Front-back 5-5/8. The overall height to the top of the plastic mount in portrait mode is 10-1/16, and the height varies from 12" to 14" in portrait mode with the large plastic bracket, depending on the size of your tablet. inch to 3/8 inch non-slip rubber pads on the bottom of the metal stand. The metallic finish goes really well with the base of my silver iMac. The 7-inch iPad is off-center about 1 inch to the right in this vertical mode.
