The lid is a little tricky to put on but when properly aligned it seals well enough to shake and not leak. The touching part is the gasket on the lid molds and the lid under the gasket molds. Also, the container will mold inside and the opening is too small for an adult hand to reach out to clean. Use a cleaning brush. Also retains odors. I clean with vinegar and bleach (separately) to combat odor and mold. I soaked a pad in chlorinated water for 2 days and it still has mold on it. Haven't found any pads yet, but I'll keep looking.
