I think this is a reasonable bracket. It's relatively thick and sturdy. A couple issues:The width of the base is not useful. No stud is that wide. I was hanging this in a semi-outdoor area, but it does not quite fit on the pillar. You will need to, in almost every conceivable situation, add some sort of intermediate mounting board. You screw the board into the wall studs, pillar, or whatever, and then mount this bracket on the board. However, I have a heavy full-size punching bag, and so I'm constantly worried that it's going to tear the board off the wall. Things bend a little more than I'd like. I wish it was just a bit narrower so that it could easily be directly mounted on the wall.
