I bought this item to store spice jars on my kitchen counter. This might be fine for large items, but not for something small like a standard spice jar. The shelves are metal bars that are too far apart for the cans to stand without tipping over, and the shelves have a rim or lip to prevent them from falling off the shelf if they tip over. I broke two spice jars just by putting them on the shelf. As I said, I think this will be fine for your large, frugal spice bottles (although I think they will be too small to hold much), but for your typical 3 or 4 ounce spice bottle, something else will do . I'm returning mine and doing just that.
