Review on Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM FLD Lens: Large Aperture Standard Zoom for Canon DSLR - International Version (No Warranty) by Goro Takenouchi ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best purchase in my life, I will definitely buy it again.

Used analogues: Tamron 17-50 2.8 without VC (on Nikon d90) Not an analogue, but there is also a Canon 50 1.8 (of course it sometimes smears. A very "wide-loose" focus range), but cheap and angry :) and 1.8. And another one that is not at all analogous is whale 18-55 3.5-. now it is covered with dust. For myself, I do not see the disadvantages of this lens at all. It is difficult to compare with the tamron, which I took on my Nikon D90, because. he got caught with a front focus and spoiled the impressions of a vacation trip, however, even if compared in terms of focus / sharpness, in my opinion, the tamron is inferior to sigma in the elaboration of details and their quality level. In general, the main review is all spelled out in the strengths of this device. Very happy with the purchase, I do not regret a second. Excellent lens! Reveals 18mp potential in 550d one hundred percent. As I already wrote - "the lens decides" :).

Pros
  • Duplicate my review with a photo. Strengths: Sharpness, working 2.8, 2.8 at all focal lengths, an excellent range of focal lengths for canon crop, the idea became clear that the carcass does not do the main work (I have 550D, it was taken for an excellent combination of photos / and excellent video in one inexpensive bottle) , and optics. The stub works just super, an extremely necessary thing for video, the picture, as if on a tripod (if the hands are not after yesterday . :)). For a photo, it often saves in room light from stirring, when ISO 800 is already the limit, because. 1600 by 550 is quite good, but I need to suppress color noise a little, I don’t like this business, but it’s not for me to carry a tripod, especially when traveling. The build quality is on top, everything is monolithic and "moderately tight" turns, nothing dangles. They immediately issued a lens in the store without any back and front focuses. The focus, by the way, is super, it clearly catches where you aim, I don’t remember smearing it. In general, a solid, high-quality lens.
Cons
  • Weaknesses: at 2.8 it lathers at the edges of the frame - not critical, just had to write something. the ideal is not achievable, but in the center everything is super. Otherwise - 5 points. They write here that the focal ring rotates when focusing is on . I don’t see anything wrong with that, and it’s even hard to imagine a situation that this could be inconvenient or it’s some kind of “weak link” .
