I used these dowel jigs (bought two sizes) in my shop a while back. Unfortunately I wasn't that happy with them. They work, but I think they're only good for casual use. I had constant alignment problems. The acrylic/plastic sheet had no friction on the wood and slid easily, even with a clip. I noticed that this mostly happened when the bit touched the wood and started biting. If this piece had some sort of texture or other means of bonding to the wood that would be a huge improvement. The second issue was durability. I was hoping the clear top would be polycarbonate or some other impact-resistant plastic, but I suspect it's actually acrylic or something similar. Dropped once and it broke. I understand that no tool can be dropped, but if you're like me and the workbench is a bit cluttered, sometimes things fall. Overall it certainly works and for the price I think it's good value for money. Would love to see some of the updates I mentioned above, next time I'll try a different one.
