As other reviewers have pointed out, the suction cup on this mount doesn't last too long. I use it on my granite kitchen counter and it's enough to sharpen a whole box of crayons, but it won't stick overnight. Thanks to the genius who discovered that if you hold a pencil too tightly, it will sharpen unevenly. , but if you turn it a little, it sharpens evenly. I read this review before we tried the sharpener and it saved me from returning an item. Once you figure out where the curved part is coming from (we got it at the top of the sharpener), you can smooth out pencils that used to be curved by holding them still for a few turns. Without these quirks I would have given the sharpener 5 stars, but these minor annoyances cost us a few pens while figuring out how it works. Now that we've figured it out, we get very sharp points on good quality pencils and can usually get a decent point on cheap pencils.
