Type of review

I got tired of using manual sharpeners and never bought an electric sharpener that lasted more than a few months. I decided to go back to old school and found this guy installing a vacuum cleaner and it works great! It sucks instantly on any smooth, hard surface and releases when you let go of the grip. Sometimes he gets a little stuck, but he rarely needs coaxing. It sharpens like a chainsaw. You can sharpen anything from fairly sharp to very sharp. Be careful, because just sanding a pencil…

Solid pencil sharpener

As other reviewers have pointed out, the suction cup on this mount doesn't last too long. I use it on my granite kitchen counter and it's enough to sharpen a whole box of crayons, but it won't stick overnight. Thanks to the genius who discovered that if you hold a pencil too tightly, it will sharpen unevenly. , but if you turn it a little, it sharpens evenly. I read this review before we tried the sharpener and it saved me from returning an item. Once you figure out where the curved part is…

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Long delivery time

If you sharpen adult or child colored pencils, this is a good choice. This is the Chinese version of the American Bostick sharpeners that were released a few years ago. The vacuum cooker and its handle are not as good as the old American versions. The little black protective cap on the vacuum arm came off on first use, and the vacuum plastic diaphragm is simple and cheap. The pencil sharpener rotors are well made and very sharp. Colored pencils pose a particular problem due to the wax content…

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Available in black only

Sharpens well but there are other problems

Bought this sharpener for class hoping it would last longer than many electric sharpeners I've tried. I have to say this sharpener does a great job of sharpening pencils quickly and would be one of my favorites if it wasn't for the cheap razor box design. I bought this to replace an X-Acto Bulldog Vacuum Attached Manual Pencil Sharpener that had a box of pencil shavings peeled off and split in two. I was hoping this one wouldn't last longer as the body is metal. The problem is that the case is…

A little understanding needed

I was first attracted to this product because I remembered my mom had one growing up (in fact she still uses hers) and it was a gem. So I bought two of these, one for my daughter's study abroad and one for my own office. Both arrived without the cotter pin that secures the suction handle in place. (In fact, the side close-ups of this product show that it doesn't include a cotter pin.) This caused the handle to slip and the entire suction mechanism to fall apart. Buying pens solved this problem.

Pros
  • Excellent overall
Cons
  • Doubtful

I should have gotten a sharpener a long time ago

I wanted a pencil sharpener that was easier to use than the ones I have - it twists pencils so much. I want to do less of this. I got the X-Acto a vacuum mounted sharpener rather than a screw mounted sharpener because I don't want to get up every time my pencil gets too dull, which is surprisingly often. First, the vacuum mount works very well. I wish the suction shower and shower hook worked almost as well. When I pull the sharpener's trigger to move it, I have to pull off a corner of the…
