Review on Efficient and Convenient: X-ACTO KS Manual Vacuum Mount Pencil Sharpener for Precision Sharpening by Carrie Spencer

Bought this sharpener for class hoping it would last longer than many electric sharpeners I've tried. I have to say this sharpener does a great job of sharpening pencils quickly and would be one of my favorites if it wasn't for the cheap razor box design. I bought this to replace an X-Acto Bulldog Vacuum Attached Manual Pencil Sharpener that had a box of pencil shavings peeled off and split in two. I was hoping this one wouldn't last longer as the body is metal. The problem is that the case is made of two thin pieces of metal and has two small "tabs" on each side that help hold the two pieces together. The 12 year olds in my class tried too hard to throw this sharpener away, resulting in their noses separating. No matter how hard I try, I can't put these pieces back together without leaving little gaps around the edges. The gaps are very small but allow some small chips to get onto the table it is mounted on. The constant accumulation of chips on the table does not allow good contact of the rubber with the surface, so the vacuum sealing function will not work without constant cleaning of both the table surface and the grindstone. would have been a great product if they hadn't tried to cut back on the quality and finish of the chip catcher to save a few cents.
