Ford Escapes frequently report faulty door ajar sensors causing false alarms and battery drain. I determined which door had the faulty sensor by rolling down all the windows and locking the car with the remote. After about 30-45 seconds, reach the window and open the doors from the inside, the door where the alarm didn't work is broken. Replacing this part isn't difficult, just a little dismal. Watch YouTube videos on the subject and you'll know about 90% of what you need to do. The only difficulty I had was getting the lock activation bar clip off, it's a clam shell clip and with my huge hands it was a bit difficult to get at, but certainly not impossible. The first one I replaced took about an hour and fifteen minutes while the clam clamp took me about half an hour to figure out the next one I replaced took 45 minutes. UPDATE: This Dorman part broke about a month after installation. do not recommend!
