Initial quality assumptions were mediocre. I had to cut off the back end of the eyebolt to actually close the latch and the rubberized part of the lever had to be cut off to fit the pin in the hole (to keep the latch from loosening). Despite this, the metal turned out to be of good, durable quality. I mounted it on my trailer with the back door closed, hooked everything up and drove 3 hours into the mountains. Mostly pavement, with the exception of the last five miles dirt (washboard and typical cleaning supplies). When I got to my camp, lo and behold, one of the bolts was broken. The eyebolt was completely cut off. Although there was a fair amount of bumps on dirt roads, the 550-pound bar was in no way intended to be pushed beyond the tensile strength of the tinsel. Very disappointing to say the least.
