Replacing my old Canon with a new Canon was quite a challenge. I researched and researched various websites and finally settled on the SD990. My requirements are simple.point.shoot.print and not for a lot of money! I'm not one to read lengthy instructions and with this camera I don't have to because it's very convenient to use. The software is great. Uploading is easy and there are many ways to modify your photo to make your finished print look great. The camera is so good that you can photograph something that is (slowly) moving, like an animal in a zoo, without blurring the end result. The zoom is wonderful. The big screen is fantastic. The only downside I have and can live with is the on/off switch. To turn it on you have to press my thumbnail in. Using the pad of my finger doesn't help, but I've gotten so used to it that it's no longer a problem. Also, the design of the camera is very slim and can feel a little slippery in my hand at times, so every time I take a picture I just use the strap that holds the camera securely and snugly. I can be clumsy. every now and then :) I would recommend this camera to anyone looking for a point and shoot camera that is easy to use and takes great photos for little money.
