Best Place for Mac Pro Memory Upgrade Late 2013

Same price as OWC website, this storage capacity is the best place to upgrade Mac Pro memory Late 2013. If you understand the difference between registered and unregistered ECC memory, Apple's smaller capacity memory is unregistered and runs slightly faster due to the lack of registration overhead. But unregistered leads to increased overhead as the amount of memory grows to multiple channels. So after two months of owning my late 2013 Mac Pro I upgraded from 16GB (4 x 4GB UDIMM) to OWC 64GB (4 x 16GB RDIMM). Updating is easy for most people, but if you're worried about ever having to open your computer, you can surely find a friend to do it for you. This is an initial update that will only take a few minutes. A good example of the difference is VMWare Fusion, a virtual machine I sometimes use to run Windows 10 applications. Adding real memory has allowed me to increase the virtual machine memory from 8GB to 16GB. It's not clear which mattered more, but with the new memory, the Windows 10 VM immediately went from slow to fast. Is this upgrade worth $500? Why not upgrade to 128GB? First, OWC is a trusted supplier that offers reliable products with reasonable warranties, including a lifetime warranty on this memory. Others do the same thing at lower prices, so it's up to you to compare offers and providers. I see 64GB as the "golden point" because it's cheaper per GB than higher capacity and faster storage. See specifications for configurations that include 32GB RDIMMs and you can run at 800MHz with a larger RDIMM. Read the specifications. If you already have your system set up with an SSD and a decent processor, this is probably the best possible upgrade. One caveat: OWC doesn't allow trade-in "discounts" when you buy standard Apple memory from them. by Raven.
