I love pineapples, especially fresh ones. I spent years buying my favorite fruit that was already cut and sold in those pint clear plastic containers "handy" at the grocery store. Yes, a stack of whole, fresh pineapples from the field totally freaked me out, despite the sheer money savings they offered. Not trying to separate the tasty fruit from its prickly skin, I paid triple the price to have my pineapple cut open and thrown into a plastic tub by a stranger. Everything changed when I discovered OXO Good Grips Stainless. Pineapple cutter with steel ratchet! This little tool is great! It peels fresh pineapple from the skin and core in less than a minute. Simply cut off the top of the pineapple and use the OXO tool to make a long spiral of evenly sliced pineapple rings. The hard core of the fruit comes off and a golden cylinder of flavor emerges from it. I was amazed at how much tastier this pineapple is than the sliced stuff I bought. The tool has already paid for itself with the money I saved on the previously purchased pre-packaged items. Buy this tool without hesitation. It is easy to use, easy to clean and easy to store. The ratchet handle allows you to work faster and apply constant pressure while you work. There are even measurement marks on the tool cylinder to avoid cutting through the bottom of the fruit. The intact skin left after the fruit is removed can become a unique serving container or even an elegant drinking vessel. Iced tea served in a mug with fresh pineapple is delicious and delicious, although I recommend using a straw when serving. You really can't go wrong with this product.
