Review on 🐠 Estes' Gravel Products AES06606 Marine Sand Black for Aquarium, 5-Pound: Premium substrate for thriving aquatic environments by Priscilla Webster

Looks best in the sand

Good size sand. This is not fine sand as the grains are slightly smaller than coffee grounds. The instructions say you just need to put it in the aquarium and slowly pour water into it and then let it sit. You can't wash it either, but you have to rinse it off. A lot of dust has to be washed out. There is also a dye that comes out even when covered. I stirred it carefully in the bucket, but despite my best efforts, I saw that only a few bits of black had come loose. Care should also be taken when pouring out the water as the lighter pieces will stick together at the top of the water and easily go down the drain when rinsing inside. To avoid all this, soaking it in water for a few days before you start cleaning can actually help. That might be a little easier. Be aware that glass or acrylic scratches very easily and when wet will stick to things like your hands or a bucket so it can get a little dirty. After the water in the aquarium settles, it becomes crystal clear and looks EXCELLENT. ! The weight is good for holding the roots of the plants and if you distribute it however you like it will stay there. It doesn't have the little sparkles that some of the other substrates have, but I'm very happy with how it looks in my 3 gallon tank. When I'm done cycling I think the plants, guppies and ghost shrimp will look great! A 5 pound sack covered an area 9.75 inches long and 8.75 inches wide to a depth of 1 inch in front and 2 inches in back, leaving very little. I would buy it again if I fitted a different tank!
