Review on Graphite Pickleball Composite Honeycomb Lightweight by Chris Morgan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

This thing is light and reactive!

NOTE: I'm playing S 2.5-3.0 and have been playing for about a year. Have used the following composite and graphite paddles: HEAD, Niupipu, Upstreet, Pickleball Inc, Onix etc. I am a 62 year old ex-tennis player with mild arthritis in my wrist. For this reason I was looking for a lighter paddle. I got about 21 hours of playtime with my new Rally NX graphite paddle. - Cost: $57 (Amazon Prime) - Weight: Weighed on a postal scale - 7.10 oz. Very glad the paddle was lighter than advertised. Construction: I hope it will stand the test of time. General: Seems very strong for such a light paddle. Very light with good balance. Nothing rattles. Grip: I'm 6' with fairly large hands and the 4.25" grip is the perfect size for me (was worried I might need extra packaging). The WINN grip feels almost sticky, which is very useful when your hand starts to sweat. It has a pleasant softness to the touch. RUDDER SURFACE: I have a red paddle. I really like the look of the graphics compared to many others. When I received the paddle I was surprised at how smooth the surface was. Worried if I could somehow spin the ball. No problem! CUTTING: Cutting presents no more false hit problems than any other paddle I've played with. The edges on the side of the rudder and on the outside are rounded. I prefer a slightly squarer edge. incidental. Actual Use: This thing is noticeably lighter than the paddles I typically use. I can swing easier and get into position faster. More wind resistance than weight resistance. Despite its light weight, the ball bounces off the paddle like a heavier paddle. A slight reduction in grip tension allows for very precise dings. Dinky is always on the go! What surprises me is how well I can turn the ball with this racquet, whether it's on a serve or a soft return. Sometimes it is enough to generate a lateral curve in flight. Very happy with it! I think it has something to do with the base material, but the thing is pretty loud when you hit it. I especially like it with hard placement. I've received comments from opponents about the loud impact sound of hard hits. Conclusion: A great paddle. I'd say it feels and plays very similar to the Graphite ONIX Z5 but about $30 cheaper (I bought it through Revain). Aside from VERY minor manufacturing flaws (very small wrinkles on the application surface, a dimple in the rim and a rough edge in the grip area - that's why I gave it one star less than perfect) I'm very happy with this paddle. It far exceeded my expectations and I feel like it has already helped my gaming skills. I would recommend this paddle to anyone looking for a lightweight paddle at a great price. UPDATE: I have been using this paddle exclusively for the past 8 months. I'm a little cracker and was afraid of possible paddle damage. But this thing is awesome! It's a shame this model was discontinued. It's so light that it's much easier for those who've been playing Slam Festival tournaments since the summer to move around. I have not found any other paddle in this price range that has the ball impact action of this one. Since I bought mine I've seen at least 6 people in our club switch to them. They all swear by it. Good job on that Pickleball Central!
