So this "canister" filter is really cool, but it's hard to get it right. There is no main mechanical function, so starting it can be a bit confusing. Essentially, you have to overfill the canister to fill it up. In addition, it does not tolerate low water conditions very well, sucking in air and losing fuel with a minimal drip. On the plus side, multiple chambers are ideal for biological, chemical, and physical filter media.
