I needed a single Betta feeder and this was one of the few options available. Everyone else seems to be eating while the betta only eats 1 or 2 pellets a day. The shovel is not suitable for my needs. It has 14 separate compartments, in each of which you need to load the desired amount of food. You can feed 1 to 4 times a day. It takes a little time to put a pellet or two in each compartment, but that's up to 14 days of feeding, so it's a minor inconvenience. However, there was a small problem. As the plastic dial spins (like a clock) each food compartment goes over the hole and the food falls through the hole into the water. The problem is that the opening and compartments are the same size but don't match. In front of the hole was a small "protrusion". Its size does not exceed 1/32 inch, but 2 pellets are small enough to sit on a ledge and not fall off. Eventually (at the next feeding) the food will fall where the wheel is moving again, but this can leave Bob (Betta) without food for a day. I had to take a small metal file and enlarge the hole at the front end a bit so that that "protrusion" was no longer there. This is definitely something that could be improved in design. It's a pity that there are very few automatic feeders that are designed for the amount of food males can feed.
