Review on πŸ”’ Enhanced Safety with OutdoorMaster Lightweight Low Profile Skateboard Helmet by Christopher Cortez

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It's ok for the price but for safety and quality consider Triple Eight helmets instead

So I just started skateboarding this week and wanted a serious and safe helmet to protect me just in case. According to Google and Revain, the best choice of helmets was this (OutdoorMaster) and another from Triple Eight. Unfortunately, while there are many comments on both helmets, they didn't help me much. I found a tape measure and measured the circumference of my head (57 cm with flowing hair). The sizing info said I would fit right at the end of the medium and the middle of the large. I was very nervous about my hair and because other comments said the helmet was tight. Sure, helmets have to be a little tight for safety reasons, but you don't want to get a headache either. I live in Arizona and it gets hot in here - I need my helmet to get around a bit as I know I'm going to sweat in it. I went ahead and ordered the OutdoorMaster and Triple Eight helmets - 2 helmets each. to the brand. In the end I didn't settle for the OutdoorMaster helmets because of the size, comfort and profile. Details on the questions below. I ended up buying a Triple Eight XL/XXL helmet with a 57cm head. Just a reminder, Triple Eight helmets are actually worn by famous skaters - no kidding - you can see Tony Hawk with their helmets on Youtube and other skaters on Instagram. So I ordered the medium and large OutdoorMaster helmets to test them out. . The ONLY medium - and I say this in all seriousness - barely fit in my head. It was a rapid rise and transition to greatness. Now the Large really fitted my head with a dial adjustment on the back of the helmet. However, this helmet sits high on the head and feels a bit odd. Safety isn't always "trendy" or "cool" but this helmet made me look like an egghead. It looked and felt more like a climbing helmet than a speed skating helmet. The inner liners were also lightly padded and the padding of the running line was similar to what should have been the main padding. Overall this was not a helmet company for me. It's $15-$20 cheaper than the Triple Eight helmet. So if you just want to turn something upside down or don't plan on using it a lot, it's fine (just remember to make it larger). BUT, if you can get a triple-eight helmet, it's much more comfortable and fits your head snugly. The top of my skull felt pretty secure in the OutdoorMaster helmets, but the sides and back of the head felt a bit exposed.

Pros
  • HOW DO I MEASURE THE RIGHT HELMET? - To find the right bike helmet size, first measure the circumference of your head and place a flexible tape measure around the fullest part of your head - about an inch above your eyebrows. Or wrap the rope around your head and then measure its length with a ruler. Large size is recommended if your height is between 21.3"-22.8"(54cm-58cm).
