Review on Scientia Moderate Saddles by Selle Royal by David Jenkins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Finally a comfortable saddle for 50+ mile rides

I have replaced the stock saddle on my Trek Domane with a Selle Royal Scientia Moderate and after about half a dozen 35-50 mile rides I am very satisfied. The stock saddle caused severe chafing on the inner thighs (even when using suede oil), but this saddle eliminated that problem. I'm 6ft 1in, I'm not light and I find the plus size perfect. I've tried Bontrager and Selle SMP saddles but wasn't happy with either, not much different from stock, tired of both after only 20 miles. And these two were more expensive than Scientia. These are good saddles, quality material and finish but they don't fit my anatomy well. Oddly, I have a Selle Royal Respiro saddle on an old flat bar road bike and I should have about 4000km on it with no problems.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
