Review on Efficient Storage Solution: Polder Deluxe Countertop Bread Bin & Storage by Amy Padilla

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Arrived badly crumpled. refund (too light, thin and small).

Can't tell how this bread bin will hold up over time as ours came with one side badly dented rendering it unusable. We'll send it back for a refund, not a replacement because it's so small and light. We read a lot of reviews about it (several companies sell lunch boxes that are very similar if not identical). Despite reading that they are made of very thin and light metal, we were surprised at how thin and light they are - almost like a large empty aluminum soda can (I'm sure it's a bit stronger - but the impression you get when you pick it up). I think they should ship them in much stronger boxes as anything that can bend the shipping box (drops, things stacked on top of it, etc.) will likely bend the bread box as well. Our shipping box looked fine, but upon closer inspection it turned out that it was slightly bent at one end, enough to ruin the bread bin. Also, it's a bit smaller than we expected. I put in a relatively small loaf of bread and a bag of bagels and it pretty much exceeded expectations. Two loaves of bread will probably fit, but no more. We were hoping to fit a couple of loaves of bread and a bag of bagels and/or English muffins etc. If someone could make a similar bread bin out of heavier metal and about 30% larger, we'd happily pay twice as much. Therefore.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
