Review on Top-Quality M15 x 1.5MM Oil Drain Plug Tap Thread Repair Kit: Essential Rethreading Tool for Oil Pan Screws by Dennis Goozmer

Great for Honda oil pan with 14mm bore

I have read all the reviews on this kit. I have a 2010 Honda Odyssey that said it needed a new oil pan. The plug has stripped the threads on the oil pan and a little oil has escaped. I found this and decided to give it a try. The faucet that came with it worked great. After tapping, I added oil to clean the chips and lots of them came out. As the oil drained I put my finger in the hole and then removed it and this technique pushed the shavings out so I did this a few times until no more shavings came out. After that I even used some cotton swabs but everything was clean. The aluminum washers on the screws are a bit flimsy, but I went with them anyway. Many reviewers advised buying various shredders. Before installing it, I noticed that the damper washers are a bit rough on one side and this can lead to a leak. I had some fine sandpaper nearby so I sanded the rough side to a smooth finish, laid it on, tightened, poured in new oil and ran the van for about 15 minutes. Went out to do my final ground check and there was no oil leaking from the bolt/washer at all. I am very happy with this kit as it saved me from having to change the oil pan.
