Desmond DLOW 40mm ball head is a great solution without sacrificing quality. You've got everything you want in a ball head right here: low profile, loose serrations, 44lb maximum load and a beautiful satin black and silver finish. It also comes with a carry case and a 60mm Arca Swiss plate. I also have the DLOW-55MM shown in the photos below (I also reviewed Revain) for comparison and I have to say I'm impressed with the quality and price. There are many better known brands at higher prices, and with good reason. These brands have a well deserved reputation and have been around for many years. I love finding hidden gems and the Desmond brand is one of them - I also have the 432 and 428 tripods. This ball head can handle a lot with a maximum load of 44 pounds. I have a Nikon D7200 and a Sigma 70-200mm 2.8 with an Arca Swiss plate and this thing won't budge. It's perfect for a travel tripod or a 2-series tripod like the Desmond 432. It weighs just over a pound and is very compact thanks to its flat form factor. The knobs have a little more play than the DLOW-55, but I suspect this is due to the weight and size of the ball head. The button adjustment is a little short, but I don't think it's a big deal for saving a lot of money. To be honest, I don't even notice. Only time will tell if they last for years like some other brands, but so far I'm impressed!
