The quality of this thing isn't great, but it's not particularly bad either. The hot air side heats up very quickly and works great for what I've used it for so far, even on thicker boards. On the other hand, iron leaves much to be desired. There is a wide range of nozzles and they aren't as terrible as they are portrayed, but even at higher temperature settings the iron just can't hold the temperature. Even with light boards and high heat, the iron will eventually get stuck and I have to wait for it to heat up again, even with a simple joint. That being said, choosing tools and tweezers is a great way to get into the world of SMD and fine tuning. Just grab some flux and some good solder and you're good to go. This kit comes with a spool of solder but I haven't had a chance to try it and I think it's lead free which is basically useless. In general I am satisfied, I just want the iron to work. In fact, it fits perfectly in your hand. Maybe mine is just wrong.
