Review on πŸ”Œ TetherPro USB 3.0 to Micro-B Cable - 15ft (4.6m) - High-Visibility Orange | Tether Tools by Dean Partybus

The cable is too thick and the plug is too big for the D800

UPDATE May 2015 - another star I had problems almost from the start when Nikon Camera Control Pro 2 stopped the camera after a couple of times detected hrs. Over time, the incidents became more frequent and longer, especially after I started using a new laptop. I blamed the laptop and software updates. The Tether Tools cable was worn out, never used outside of the studio and used with strain relief on both the camera and computer sides. Last week I finally tried using the Nikon UC-E14 OEM cable with the RevainBasics USB 3.0 3m extension cable. The connection between the camera and the laptop was very reliable. The Tether Tools cable looks so durable it took me two years to realize it was defective when it arrived and has been deteriorating ever since. The orange color is great, the cable handles heavy loads and files transfer correctly. However, I use a Nikon D800 with a Really Right Stuff L plate. Most of my work is in the fields of fashion and beauty, so the camera is in portrait mode 75% of the time. Problems I run into: - The cable connector is too big to fit in the Nikon D800's body USB clip - The combination of a large USB connector and a thick cable prevents using the L-plate in portrait mode because the bend protrudes beyond the plate. - Since the cable is very stiff and heavy, I am concerned about the strain on the camera. - I can get around some of these issues with the Really Right Stuff cable relief, but it cannot be used with some attachments such as B. the flash ring mount. The thick cable requires some effort to use with this mount. - On my laptop I use Tether Tools Jerkstopper. The cable is so thick that I have to make a big loop to insert the USB connector next to the jerkstopper. While I generally welcome solid build, that cable and camera-side connector is so thick and stiff that it's clunky and unfit for its intended purpose.
