Works in my situation

Details of my installation - I live about 35 miles from the main network towers in my area - I had an omnidirectional antenna mounted on my roof and pointed towards the main towers (now I have two, more on that later) - I have 5 TVs connected to an old cable company junction box and cables - Cable lengths range from 20 feet to 100+ feet. For about 5 years this has worked on its own for me, except for bad weather and in particular one channel that was always either working or missing. I've been testing ways to fix the weather issues and get this single channel hit and miss and it seems to be helping! I like that the amplifier is built into the splitter itself, eliminating the need to add a built-in amplifier. signal before it hits the traditional splitter. This splitter is also specifically designed to handle an amplified signal and "turn off" unused ports on the splitter (which also helps amplify the signal). If you are having trouble getting a signal with this type of configuration, it is most likely the problem with the splitter and not the cables/antenna/TV. I would advise people to start here and then progress from the disconnect to resolve signal strength issues. I added a second antenna and "connected" (using a $20 LTE antenna duplexer with a built-in filter on Amazon) the signals together, giving me additional signal amplification. Now I can receive all channels regardless of the weather, even one that I've always missed. I can only attest to the usefulness of this product as far as HD antennas go. I don't know about traditional cable/satellite/broadband signals.

Pros
  • Compatible with all major and digital cable TV services, OTA antenna reception. Not compatible with systems with an existing amplifier or preamp. Exceeds all SCTE standards.
Cons
  • boring packaging
