I don't give many five star reviews but I can't fault these cleat folds. They are beautifully made, polished to perfection, well designed and put a smile on my face. Many spikes attach to the deck with screws, but that's not a good way to attach something that can take that much stress. They use mounting bolts that go through the deck and are secured with nuts and washers on the underside. Technically speaking, this is the only satisfactory way to install something so essential to keeping your boat docked. The pop up design is very well done and is similar to the pop up plates that came with my Lowe Tritoon boot. I asked the parts manager on the wharf about the cost of purchasing two more pop-up spikes and installing them and almost passed out. They cost about 1/3 less and are just as functional as the significantly more expensive pop-up models. At nearly $25 each, they certainly aren't cheap, but you really do get what you pay for. They are made from 316 stainless steel, also known as marine grade stainless steel due to its very high rust resistant chromium content. I am very picky about everything that happens on the boat and cannot fault anything on the subject. Highly recommended.
