I'm a fat girl and my hips are no exception. I've had workout shorts before and felt like they cut off circulation around my thighs or inevitably rip the thread if my hips or waist stretch the shorts that shouldn't stretch as much. Just not these! They are very soft, incredibly stretchy and comfortable around the hips and waist. They ride up a bit, but I went with the XL size based on previous experience (see thread breakage fiasco above). I just put them on and am ready to buy another pair! If you have a thicker side (there is no gap between the thighs!) I recommend these shorts.
