Review on πŸ’Ώ G-Technology G-DRIVE Mobile USB-C 2TB (USB 3.1) Silver Portable External Hard Drive - Model 0G10339 by Shalom Germann

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Drive OK but warranty sucks

Don't be fooled, USB-C (USB 3.1 Gen 1) speeds are the same as USB 3.0. Faster speed is USB 3.1 Gen 2. Gen 1 is slower. This drive was easy to set up for Windows 10 and the copy speed was slow, around 100MB/s. With a 3 year limited warranty if copy speed is not a concern, it is very good value for money. However, after minimal use, the drive failed and the format failed - too many bad sectors. If you need warranty service, the phone will not be answered in 2 hours, and your email will not be answered in less than 7-10 hours. days. When requesting an RMA online, the instructions are not in understandable English. You use words or abbreviations that are not in the dictionary or are not applicable. That is, if you use Google, the abbreviations not shown apply to the item. The instructions don't say if you need to return the cables as well, and if so, if they will be returned. They refuse to use clear words like G-Drive Mobile or internal, external or portable hard drives. Instead, the instructions include a non-removable hard drive and enclosure (G-DOCK, G-RAID Removable, G-RAID Studio, G-SPEED Studio, G-SPEED Studio XL, and G-SPEED Q), an empty enclosure, and a removable cartridge ( G-DRIVE ev, G-DRIVE ev SSD, G-DRIVE ev 220, G-Drive ev ATC) ev cassette. It's been over a week and I haven't received a response to my email question "Should I return the drive cables?" And when I called after waiting two hours I hung up.
