My jetty has a non-slip spray coating but it does not prevent lichen from growing on it. After six or seven years most of the dock was covered with lichen. I was able to clean the dock with these brushes. I used sea water and an ordinary household cleaner in a bucket and these brushes provided the necessary friction to fully clean the dock. The long handled brush did what it was designed to do. I was hesitant to put too much effort into cleaning for fear of bending the handle, but with that in mind I was able to get the job done. I suspect the brushes will bend and become less stiff over time, but so far this hasn't happened and I will be using them to clean other surfaces.
