This is a really well made spiked collar that works as it is supposed to. I have a 48 lb German Shepherd mix with a 500 lb train. I trained them with a spiked collar that I've had for 10 years. The quick release buckle broke off so I ordered it expecting it would be of lesser quality than the old original - which I expected as a lot of what is made now is no longer the same quality and material. like the things that were done a long time ago. The weight is the same as my old one and the flat lugs every few links might be an improvement over my old one which was just continuous links. The chain slides very smoothly and easily compared to the old one. I've looked at spiked collars at pet stores and they weren't of the same quality (appear to be aluminum and, while lighter, not up to the task) and cost $5-$10 more. FYI, the collar I ordered was a size M and is great for Blitz. She has short hair and small bones. Now she walks well on the leash and the collar is fine. If she was still in training mode I might have to remove a link like I did with the old collar.
