I found the fasteners to be magnetic but less magnetic than regular screws. High quality stainless steel should not be magnetic. From my very brief research on the subject, either there wasn't enough chromium in the source material or it became magnetic during the molding process. If it has become magnetic during the molding process, this should not affect its corrosion resistant properties. If it doesn't have enough chromium, it doesn't have the same corrosion resistance properties as high quality stainless steel and probably shouldn't be considered 304 stainless steel. I can't tell why it's magnetic. I have no plans to use it in areas exposed to salt water. Otherwise he has a good choice.
