Not what I was hoping for (updated review)

These towels are large. As big as they are advertised, which is to be expected, but it's still kind of like "Wow!" the moment you fully reveal one. Towels look good enough, but they're definitely not a fancy kitchen item to be without. The frustrating thing about the towels was they didn't absorb as much as I had hoped. They dry dishes well (which is why I bought them) but leave a decent amount of water on my stainless steel pans, which is unacceptable. I like their size and they can be used for cleaning so I will keep them but I'm sad they don't serve the purpose I bought them for. I will let you know if washing/drying improves the quality of your drying. Update 05/14/2014 (Upgrade from 3 to 5 stars). Having owned and used these towels daily for the past 4 months or so I have to say I LOVE them. The wash/dry cycles may have helped, but they now dry dishes much better (especially stainless steel pans). I'm now a big fan of her size too. They're big enough that I can grab my large pot with a corner of the towel and use the rest of the towel to completely dry the pan. I hope that makes sense. The water runs down and wets the rest of the pan you just wiped. I have used these towels to - clean up clutter, dry dishes, oil pans, on the counter to dry dishes, pat food to dry (to wash very soon after if you do it for hygiene reasons), over the shoulder as rags cooking, drying wet hands, storing hot pots, and that's exactly what I remember at the moment. I'm moving soon and am thinking of buying another set to replace the first one I bought. They still work great, but I've gotten them a little dirty through intentionally messy work (usually regretting the cast iron skillet) and I'd like a fresh white set of hand-drying salts. So for anyone having absorbency issues, by all means keep using them and they should work much better after a few wash/dry cycles.
