Helps align switches, easy to align

In a house where the wiring was pretty crazy** and I had to replace the switches, this plate made alignment a lot easier by having a few switches lift, straighten Line them up and set them to the same depth so they don't look stupid. There are two separate parts; The plate on the bottom has small screws that attach to the switches, but there are also screw holes that attach to the electrical box, which is a huge improvement over traditional plates. Therefore, while I began tightening the mounting screws, I didn't finish them until I had attached the plate to the switches. It also made level mounts a lot easier, rather than being stuck with weird, slightly off-level setups due to sloppy builders (<25 year old house, they just wired our unit pretty haphazardly) - I had enough slack to make sure that it was a before I tightened things up, then I just snapped the front into place. It was a lot easier than the traditional bezel type that installs after your switches are in place. one had to be disassembled several times because a defective switch had to be replaced); they held up well on mine, but I was probably too careful because the ridges appear thin. I also used this single plate on another brand's switch because their traditional plate didn't even match their own brand. To the right. After struggling with another one for too long I just grabbed a Claro that was meant for another area and will buy a replacement. It was quick, I straightened, cocked, snapped on the front and we were ready to go. They look sleek and clean, there are no screws to collect dirt and dust. Overall just very good as long as nobody breaks the outer plate. However, once everything is in place I don't see a need to mess with it, so I think they'll be good for a long time if you're careful when something needs updating. I wish they would do this for the toggle switches as well, as there are a couple of switches that I don't really want to change backstage, but I would like them all to have the same plates.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Very expensive
