Review on COMSOL Multiphysics (formerly FEMLAB) by Tyler Cooley

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good tool for modelling and simulation

The ability to simulate complex problems with ease of use has been very helpful in solving some challenging design issues that I have faced over time at work. There are many features available which can be used as per requirement but not all are equally useful. Some may require more learning than others while using it. A lot depends upon your background knowledge about this particular field. If you know how to solve simple linear equations then there will hardly any problem if you learn new things from tutorials provided by comsol website itself. It's easy enough even without much prior experience so don't worry too much when starting out! Solving structural mechanics related issues like stress distribution across different components under extreme loads.

Pros
  • No need specific programming skills or previous training required before getting started !!!Easy accessibility via web browser
Cons
  • Sometimes crashes due lack proper hardware configuration
  • Can get slow sometimes
