Review on πŸ”Œ M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD to PCIe 3.0 x 4 Adapter Card with Enhanced Cooling Aluminum Heatsink by Jerome Turner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Passive adapter, nothing happens to it.

This passive adapter is exactly what you expect, and for less than $8 it's a good deal. The production is fully automated, so the processing quality is perfect. Transistor, but it's always on, so it doesn't look like it's an activity indicator. Supplied with screws and heatsink for 2280 form factor only. Smaller cards can only be screw mounted without a heatsink or without properly attaching the board itself. The kit includes two thermal pads, one on top and one on the bottom. If that doesn't work, don't blame the passive adapter, blame the motherboard and BIOS for not supporting NVMe. In order to boot from NVMe for a system with an Intel chipset 6 series and higher with an AMI BIOS, these can usually be patched. Google how to get full NVMe support for instructions on how to fix Intel and AMD AMI BIOS motherboards. As for the non-boot drive, Windows 10 and Linux support NVMe drives natively, although the BIOS doesn't. For those waiting for a passive adapter manufacturer (or Revain) to support your motherboard and BIOS, think again. This is not the work of someone who makes eight dollar passive boards. Please make sure your BIOS supports NVMe or know how to fix it before purchasing.
