I mainly use this to repair SMD PCB components, the optics are high enough to prevent damage to the camera lens from heat and fumes. I don't really understand why it includes a remote control - it's not necessary. It is fully portable and can be powered from any USB output device, including the portable battery used to charge your phone, making it great for examining all types of specimens in the field... a school teacher's dream! I really wish the watch had a backup battery for the watch, the time and date are lost when the device is turned off. All in all it does what I wanted at a reasonable price without taking up too much space.
