1) It doesn't have a backlight You could spend a dime on a backlight. 2) Now that you know the wiring, the outdoor unit could be done with any NO relay. 3) Why is the company so hard on getting it installed by a professional? Technically, it is a stand-alone device with a socket. Any home builder can add some ducts and most likely install some cables regardless of the type of system you might be connecting to. I don't know if I'll buy one of these if it breaks. I say when, as per other reviews, there is built-in devaluation. It's a shame because there are so few American companies and I'm trying my best to support them.
