I love cats and small functional things. He has a cat. It's small and functional! Yes, it's without a potentiometer, so don't worry about water in the cork bushing. Yes, the steamer is made for food, but it likely contains BPA and is useless if that person(s) is you. No, it doesn't have temperature control, but due to the hours wasted reading other mini hot pot reviews, even those with more than one setting don't go low enough for a real boil, so none of these hot pots say, that they are good for cooking rice (unfortunately). Basically, if you're just boiling hot water you'll never get away from this thing, but between strategically removing the lid, stirring, adding liquid, and turning it on and off, it behaves like a pot on the stove, a super temperamental stove. There is an amazing portable slow cooker that only heats up to 165 degrees, which as far as I can tell is closer to actual boiling point. It only holds 20 ounces, but if I took it and this adorable stew, I'd be 100% sure I'd always have a hot meal on the go or in the office. Now my sous vide, I would feel quite comfortable in the hotel for an indefinite period. Oh my god this silly little cat is so cute. Update: When I actually ate my oatmeal, it tasted like plastic. such a disappointment. Don't let your pot suffer from this disease.
