I bought this "microclimate" air cooler to use on my desk in my home office, as my office sometimes gets uncomfortable on particularly hot days. I didn't have high expectations when I ordered it anyway, but was pleasantly surprised at how effective it is. I simply fill the air cooler with filtered water, place a few ice cubes on the tray on top to add cold water as the cubes start to melt, and feel instant relief as soon as I turn it on and a cool mist begins to waft. The device is not completely silent, but not too loud either, especially when the fan is running at minimum speed. Plus, since it's powered by a built-in battery, it's easy to take with you wherever you go. In general, a very successful purchase.
