These are really good knives. The blades are made of high quality German steel. They are made in Taiwan, not China. The processing is excellent. They are very cheap even though I got them as a gift. They look great in the mount. The set has everything you really need. I ended up returning them as I don't think I'm a good enough cook to give them credit and they will likely be offended and unpopular. Something this good deserves proper care, not being washed in the dishwasher, being sanded and sharpened. Our previous set didn't like it and fell into disrepair. I will try to sharpen them and teach the family how to use them properly. Then, if we can prove it, I'll ask for another set at some point. Although I would like a reel set for myself. This one is pretty pretty on the counter but if I ever make it I want a roll. Like in the movie Chief. Maybe one day. But if you're looking for quality knives at a great price, then Mercer has you covered. Great knife set.
