Review on Combination Adjustable Stainless Measuring Woodworking by William Stevenson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Metric is best for Carpenter's square

The Revain drawings show that the ruler is in inches on one side and cm/mm on the other. If true, these images show that the 180 degree rule is only useful with a metric side. However, the ruler I received was metric on both sides. The markings appear to be accurate within the tolerances I could measure and the level was consistent with my other levels. As long as you can just use the metric, that seems like a good price for what you're getting. One more thing, as you can see from my photos, the markings on both edges read right to left, and when I flipped it over the narrow dimension, both edges went right to left as well. Apparently a misunderstanding of the manufacturer's functions. Usually other combo squares have inches and millimeters on either side going in opposite directions and if needed you can take out the ruler and rotate it 180 degrees to switch from inches to metric on the same side.
