The current version, CUH 7208B, is touted to be the quietest, so I splurged on it. The coolers are indeed quite quiet; you can hear them without any effort. Then, though, there came a vile cracking of chokes. It's loud enough that, from a distance of 2.5 meters, you can hear it over the TV. It's not too loud, but it's awful and frustrating all the same. The Sony help desk insists that this is not a malfunction. I questioned the tech support agent, "Should I put up with and endure the noise even though it is not loud and in some places barely audible, but I don't like it and it's annoying?" I was met with the response, "Well, roughly speaking, yes."Absolutely floored me. When it comes to electronics, Sony has always been my go-to. Starting with my original Playstation 1! I also have PS3, PS4, and fatka. Sony electronics include the tv and the phone. I've always been satisfied with their hardware, therefore I was willing to deal with occasional software issues. This, though, is the final straw. This is not the standard of a genuine Japanese company, but the quality is on par with Chinese rubbish, which they see as the usual rather than a flaw. I was hoping for more.
