I wanted to replace the original clockwork in a wooden table clock from the early 1900's with a thick bezel. The shaft of this quartz movement is exactly the same length as the original and is perfect for my project. I removed the original gear and put it in a gallon sized ziplock bag, put the new gear in the existing hole and tightened the nut on the shaft to hold it in place. The arms were slightly longer than the originals but could easily be trimmed with small wire cutters. You can install it with or without a second hand. In order to keep the clock looking original I have chosen not to install it. Now I have a beautiful old clock that is completely silent and does not need to be wound.
