Because it's so harsh it requires far fewer cleaning passes and is far more effective than older cleaners that leave you flaking off after a few uses :(This is a really heavy duty professional quality cleaner that will last for years. I love it multifunctional design, which you can use to make decorative designs using fruits and vegetables, as well as carrots and other vegetables to make "noodles" potatoes, apples and sliced tomatoes!It cleans the peeler's "teeth" perfectly!What a great gift for a wedding or someone getting his first apartment and getting the start of his collection of kitchen gadgets.
