Review on Bodum Pour Over Coffee Maker: 17 oz with Permanent Filter & Cork Band by Mike Slippy

Don't buy this. Buy Chemeks. Read why below.

I had a Bodum overpouch which I recently replaced with this Chemex 8 cup. Both day and night are better. I will list the reasons: 1. Bodum is made with a cork handle which deteriorates when wet. Very annoying when you have to rinse it every time you make coffee and you have to avoid getting the cord handles wet.2. Bodum has a rounder bottom and is therefore more unstable. Chemex has a wide flat bottom that is more resistant to tipping over.3. Chemex has a channel leading to the pour point. This way the coffee flows out in a predictable way. Bodum has NO canal so random coffee comes out from time to time. Which is absolutely wonderful. no Bodum attempted to fix this major design flaw by inserting a small plastic plug into the box. This is a temporary solution. Bodum is half the price of Chemex. Because. You get what you pay for.

Pros
  • Looking forward to
Cons
  • Infinitely Sluggish
