When I found that the surge protector I bought came with Ethernet protection I almost returned it. I have an Xfinity Internet advertised at 200Mbps and a Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro which I upgraded to after a lightning strike went through my last modem and router, two switches, an ethernet port on one of mine Destroyed PCs and the motherboard on my '65 Visio TV. When I found that I was only getting 80-90 Mbps when setting up a new router, I bypassed the Ethernet surge protector on the power strip and got 220-223 Mbps /s. I tried this little device and no loss of speed! In fact, after installing it, I tested speeds up to 230Mbps. To ground it, I bought a regular 3-pin connector end, attached it to a ground pin, and connected it with a surge protector.Very simple!
