Old cartridge with faded prints

I bought this cartridge at the end of May 2016 (about 29 months ago). It sat on a shelf at room temperature until used in October 2018. The entire printed page is faded (including the test page). Shaking the cartridge and cleaning the contacts does not help. When I put the old cartridge in, everything is back to normal. I can only assume that the cartridge that comes with it was made many, many years ago. I will be ordering a new one from another seller who hopefully has more current stock. This purchase was a waste of $103.88.
